NASAL breathing IS FAT burning!

MOUTH breathing triggers STRESS to the body

NOSE breathing triggers RELAXATION to the body

HOW you breathe determines if:

  1. Your body’s cells are oxygenated

  2. The body is burning more fat or more sugar

  3. pH balance of blood

  4. hormonal / brain response of the body to activity

When we spend most of our time inhaling AND exhaling through the nose, we OPTIMIZE all of the above and I always aim for OPTIMAL!

NASAL BREATHING HELPS THE BODY BURN MORE FAT than sugar.

This needs to be trained like all other muscles of the body!

Your heart rate determines how much sugar/fat the body will use during any activity.

This is why it’s so GOOD TO TRAIN ZONE 2!!

When we work HARD and the heart rate is UP, we burn more sugar…when we run LOW on sugar in the muscles, they become ACIDIC!

Acidic muscles burn and become tight and we don’t perform well.

NASAL breathing allows us to change the pH of our blood and bring balance back to the muscles!

This is one reason why some of my clients have more sore muscles than others. Another way of helping acidic muscles recover better is to eat a little carb to replace lost glycogen in those muscle cells and walk it off more often over the next 24 hours.

If you find that you’re a mouth breather, practice five minutes of walking/movement with your mouth closed and tell me how that feels!
